We have a few plums but I'm sure the squirrels will get most of them. I'm just surprised there are any since we had such a warm winter. A couple of years ago we had a really cold winter and tons of plums. They are small and more for making jelly than eating. Rick had given a lot of the plum juice in the freezer away last year. I was looking for something last weekend and found 4 more cartons that got hidden away.
We have baby tomatoes. So good to see them after the horrible weather last year. We got quite a few but not like we would because of the drought. Worms were horrible the last couple of weeks. We gave in and used sevin dust. We really try to not use chemicals. Maybe once we live there we will have more time for alternatives.
We have squash. We fried some Saturday night. I'll share pics soon. I made the boiled squash with onions with velveeta today for dad. We'll run it out to him tomorrow. Moma had a few unusual dishes that I've never seen any where else. Squash with velveeta was one of them. We also make a salmon ball from canned salmon that no one else seems to have heard of. That's my "go to" meat dish in a rush. I've made it the last few years at Rick's family reunion we go to. For less than $10.00 I can feed an army of people with minimal work.
Jack loves being at dad's but he runs his little legs into the ground. This little guy thinks he is as big as the girls. We are so blessed to have these sweet animals who came into our lives. We lost Dad's Lucky #3 a few weeks ago and poor Daisy is so lonesome. Dad is willing to take another one but we want the "one" who will love Daisy and want to stay there. We are hoping that the special "one" will come into our lives soon. Whatever you believe in we welcome your prayers, wishes, fate, etc. None of our sweet animals were adopted from a shelter. Each one has came into our lives from the street. They are the ones who weren't lucky enough to get taken to a shelter. So we wait. And pray. And hope.
Well, time to get things ready for the work week. Take care and find your happy place.
