We finally had a good hard freeze for 24 hours.  I played lazy and rode to work with hubby so I wouldn't have to drive in the mess.  Here's his frozen mirror as we head to work.

The below picture is a view from my desk at work. It was so dismal and dreary.

I even had a big cup of coffee to warm up.  I don't drink it much anymore but it sure was good.

Glad it was Friday for the bad weather.  So yesterday, Saturday, was errand day.  Today I got to stay home and do some cooking.  Rick loves skillet apple cake so I made one for him and one for his guys. I also made lasagna and garlic bread sticks.  By mid afternoon I was back in my sewing room.  I finished the embroidered pot holders I showed a couple of posts back.
Well, I'll leave you now and find another task to complete.  Hope you have a great evening.

Bird Feeders

I couldn't resist showing my boys Christmas day outfits.  As you can see, we WERE NOT going out..  Silly Boys!

Another project I finished recently.  I have 6 of these and finally made them into bird feeders.

I also made me a couple spoon rests.  I had that one lonely one that can't hold all the spoons and is a mess so I made me a couple of more.  Now I am not putting a tomato spoon in my cream sauce.

Thanks for stopping by.

My current WIP's

A few of my current projects.  I had some partial skeins of color and then found the white thread at Goodwill.  So I've been making a few dishcloths for me and whomever to use up the bits and pieces.  I'll store what's left of the white for when I find the next bits at a thrift store.

I'm also trying to finish these potholders.  I guess they'll be a gift since I don't need any.

I'm trying hard to stay out of fabric stores and use what I have or find at thrift stores and Goodwill.  Half of 1 bedroom is tubs of fabric.  My yarn is stored in the garage in tubs.  Another bedroom is my sewing room with more stuff than I can use in a year.  So that is why I have quit buying and look for things to help complete/finish things I already have.
Yuck, it's only Monday.  I wish I could retire.  Not old enough or rich enough yet.  Thanks for stopping by.

Forgotten Craft

When my last kid was young I saw these Snoopy's somewhere and made a whole bunch of them for Christmas decorations.  I lined them up across the front yard and strung lights across in their little bootys.   I had forgotten all about them.  I told Rick to get all the decorations down this year so I could trim down what we don't need to keep.  Then we will put them in our storage shed since we still plan to move sometime soon.  When he came down the ladder with these I was so surprised.  I had forgotten all about them.

I took a couple of pictures before I threw them out.  They were filthy after being in the attic for about 18 years.  From the pictures you can tell they are made from milk jugs glued together.  I forgot to take a picture of the back.  You cut out a hole in back and fill the bottom with about an inch of dirt so they don't blow over.  That's also the same hole I stuck the light in when I strung the lights across.
The ears are cut from old jeans and the scarf is just a scrap of red fabric.   If you are creative enough you could probably create any cute character with these jugs.  I used a permanent marker to make the face so it wouldn't fade from the sun or rain.
Rick spent his day making sausage.

He used to only do pan sausage but his skill at making link sausage is getting better.

He plans to smoke them tomorrow.

As you can tell, he is proud of himself.  It's really nice to know that life as we know it would not end if our world drastically changed.  We just might survive and be the better for it.
Thanks for stopping by.  I'm trying to get back on the blogging train.
