I had to have a bath.  Yukkkkkk...........!  I rubbed and rubbed.

Rested a minute.

Rubbed again.

More rubbing.
I'm giving all of you my "evil" eye.  I don't like water!!!
I'm home for awhile and Jack wants to be with me but he smells.  Rick gave him a bath today so maybe we can co-exist in the bedroom until I am back on my feet.  He's really sweet but , lordy, he can stink.

I was blessed this weekend by getting to see both of my kids.  They knew I was okay but still chose to see for themselves.  I hope God blesses them for caring about their mom and making time for extended family.
We have cantaloupes.  First time in a couple of years.  They are so much more flavorful than the ones from the valley.

This is our farmer.  He had a blast yesterday.  He had his kids, his spoiled dogs, and the famous $500 tractor.  Yes,  he loves that crappy tractor.  I just want the kids to know how much we feel we are blessed to have them.  They may not be perfect but they are awesome kids who love life.
Thanks for checking in.

I'm back.  In some ways things were easy and in others, very difficult.  I'll spare you the horrors of the surgery itself.  Everything after has been good and easy sailing.  I was lucky to have a wonderful group of nurses taking care of me.    The hospital is not part of our famous medical center but I was surprised at how nice certain parts of the facility were.
Well, my goal while I am off is to complete as many started projects as I can.  Don't ask how many because I have no clue.  I chose this as the first one.  While working on this, I get tired.  So my project from the bed or recliner is a crocheted scarf I purchased years ago from Red Heart for donation to the WomenHeart Heartscarves Project. I didn't realize I never completed it.   I have good intentions but my follow thru sucks.

I also want to do some charity hats for meals on wheels this year.  Maybe some scarfs too.  I know southern Texas is not like Chicago or Philly but our elderly and needy get cold too.  We do not have a lot of deaths from the weather like our northern states do but we don't like knowing that they are suffering.
Jack is glad things are getting back to normal.  We don't want to lose him in the grass so Rick was mowing.  But Jack couldn't be ignored.
Look at me pa.  I run like the wind.  Can you see me in this tall grass?

I run and run.

Jack and I have a love/hate relationship.  I got in Rick's recliner and he wanted in my lap.  I said no.  He whined, moaned, and eventually barked.  Yeah, I think he's a little rotten.  But, we love him so I guess we'll keep him even tho rotten "smells".
Thanks for coming back.  Thanks for the prayers.

Rain, rain, and more rain.  We needed some but not this much.  A bunch of people in our area were flooded out again.  I feel for them.   Some were dealing with their 4th flood out.  It's easy to say move but people read the history and won't buy the house.  So they are stuck unless the government buys them out.

I found this at goodwill.  I keep forgetting to take before pics.  This was solid black before.  I really like it now.

The parrot is a tile with a wood frame.  It is really heavy.  I'm not sure I'll hang it.

This was given to me several years ago by a coworker.  It was solid brown.  I decided to paint it and will put it by the pet cemetary later.  Right now it's in my recovery area to make me smile.

Another sumpin' that makes me smile.  I found this gorgeous lamp at Goodwill today.  Look at the shape.  The lamp was 3.99 and the shade was 2.09.  I needed a taller lamp on the night stand to read or sew by. This one is a keeper.
Well, I finally cleaned out my "special box".  It's one of those boxes you have had since you became an adult.  Things you think you want to keep fall in there.  Mine was the size of a file cabinet drawer.  I narrowed it down to a copy paper box.  Look at my finds.
Yes, I lived the disco years.  Boogy down tonight, you're hot, brick house, etc.  Hubby wasn't much into dancing but he adored a cousin of his who was gay and loved to dance.  I got to spend some disco time in a few bars "boogying down".  It was one of many special times in our lives.  I didn't know I even had this but you can guess what I'll be listening to going to and from work this next week..

My teen years were wrapped around the Vietnam war.   So, yes, I was very aware of POW's and underground newspapers against our gov't, etc.  I had a bil and friends in that war.  I'm the last person to get involved in politics.  But I will say this much.  I watched some of the accolades to Britain's queen recently and felt sad.  Our royalty used to be our president but it's been awhile since I felt like we had a president that I would feel privileged to meet.  Probably most of my adult life.
This is the receipt for my wedding dress.  Can you believe 44.10?  I remember mom telling dad that she could not make a dress for less than that.  When my sis married in December years earlier, mom sewed both of our velvet dresses.  Sis wore white  and I wore red.  Mom sewed fake pearls onto velvet ribbon so we would have chokers that matched our dresses.  I also found a hair bow.  I don't remember having to wear that thing.  Sis owes me big for a hair bow if I had to wear it.  As you can guess I'm researching pics.  The bow means you owe me lots.

Got to Dad's today and discovered he had become a mushroom farmer.  He had 3 spots with over 2 dozen mushrooms in each spot.  My camera lens cover measures 2" so what you see are rather big mushrooms.

Many fungi umbrellas in the yard
The flip side is blue so we're thinking we don't want any of those spores.

The climate control shed is coming along.  It would be faster if Rick had help but I'm useless since I'm on antibiotics.  You have to stay out of the sun, heat, etc.  I am so proud of what he has accomplished on his own.

Ruby and Jack were waiting for me when I finished mowing.  Lil Bit, as usual, was in the house with dad getting bones and sucking up the a/c.

I bought these bird panels at a yard sale a long time ago.  I painted each bird a different color.  Then we hung them on Rick's deer camp house.  Every time I walk by I smile.  Yes, they make me smile.  Silly, yes,  do I care what others think, no!

Yes, simple things are nice.  Have a good day.

Tomatoes are starting to play out.  I know Rick will miss blanching and canning tomatoes.  Yeah right.  Okra is booming but that's about it.  We have been blessed each year.  We need to focus on getting our house ready to sell so the garden ending sooner than expected is okay.

Two more tops are done.  Both are string tops.  I just can't throw away those scraps.  Look at how beautiful they can be.   I just hate waste.
The tub is starting to get full.  I hope to work on these while I'm off work after surgery.  I actually have a lot of expectations for that time but know I won't get to realize half of my dreams.  It will be nice to stay at home if only briefly.  I didn't get to do much of that when my kids were little.  Now they are grown and I get to stay home.  It may get to be a little lonely.

I'm watching Kitchen Cousins right now and want to strangle them for tearing up decent cabinets. They are out of date but nothing wrong with them. Lots of people would love to have them.........Same thing with Food Network.  Wasted food is so tragic.  We may not have starving people in this country but we do have people who don't get to eat "well".  Okay, I'll get off my soap box.
I had some old pie crusts so I tried fig pies.  Next time I'll make my dough from scratch.  Rick deemed them edible so I won't throw them away.
Hope you had a good 4th. Remember to live, love, and laugh.

This was written for Saturday but I got busy and never posted it.
Busy day today.  Rick canned twice today.  I sewed.  The bird top is finished.  I'm working on a string blanket now.  I do a bunch of tops and then complete them with batting and backs when I have time.  I don't actually quilt.  I hope to someday.  Around 3:00 we're a little sir crazy so we go window shopping.

Window shopping turned into real money.  I saw this corning ware at our local store and it was $25.  Yeah, I bought it and after checking corningware.com all, but 1 piece I couldn't find, totals around $97.
We finally got some rain.  It drizzled most of the day.
Lil bit's thundershirt arrived today ironically while we were experiencing multiple thunderstorms.  But, according to their instructions we have to train her when she's not upset.  Guess this will be fun.
But we don't want to do another sleepless night again.

I found another one of those blown glass thingys a week ago.  I'm really liking these things but they serve no purpose whatsoever.  Oh, well, they make me smile.
